Some days I find myself staring at the screen and my only hope in all the world is to see "This document was successfully checked as XHTML..." The feeling of creating a site that meets a strict set of guidelines can be a great experience. Especially if the only training you have ever had came from your own research. I believe that seeking out knowledge is a far more efficient and fulfilling endeavour. School on the other hand drains the creativity from my bones and fills my mind with papers and dates that I could only regurgitate if I were asked the exact question I knew would be on the test.
I have been experimenting with web design for about 5 years now and the joy of being able to come this far, with the help of an excellent web community and funding from the jobs I have done, is satisfying. I currently work as a sub contractor. I am under contract with Business PC Consultants, owned and operated by Mr. Doug Sisco, building full featured websites, creating dynamic content, and performing site maintenance.
What I enjoy the most is hand coding my sites from scratch like this one. I read somewhere that your content should define your site. I hope that is very evident in this site and in my other hand coded sites.
I will never stop learning. My current focal point is learning php and mySQL. I built a custom CMS for a company out of Pennsylvania that allows them to perform all elements of CRUD(Create, Read, Update, Delete). The CMS is simplistic and easy to use. On our first release, we only came across one bug and that was fixed in five minutes. The next step is the object oriented aspect of PHP.
