Some days I find myself staring at the screen and my only hope in all the world is to see "This document was successfully checked as XHTML..." The feeling of creating a site that meets a strict set of guidelines can be a great experience. Especially if the only training you have ever had came from your own research. I believe that seeking out knowledge is a far more efficient and fulfilling endeavour. School on the other hand drains the creativity from my bones and fills my mind with papers and dates that I could only regurgitate if I were asked the exact question I knew would be on the test.
I have been experimenting with web design for about 5 years now and the joy of being able to come this far, with the help of an excellent web community and funding from the jobs I have done, is satisfying. I currently work as a sub contractor. I am under contract with two companies right now. Business PC Consultants, owned and operated by Mr. Doug Sisco, sends me various website maintenance and website design concepts. Star City Web Design, owned and operated by Mrs. Kristina Anderson, sends me full website designs, website maintenance, and graphic ads/business cards.
I have worked extensively in joomla CMS building several sites and designing my own templates. Although what I enjoy the most is hand coding my sites from scratch like this one. I read somewhere that your content should define your site. With CMS you build the template and then add your content. I say, let the content build the template. I hope that is very evident in this site and in my other hand coded sites.
